Diocesan Day of Reflection for NBCC Congress XIII

Every five years since 1987, the National Black Catholic Congress (NBCC) has convened a national gathering of Black Catholics and those who serve in Black Catholic Ministry, culminating in a pastoral plan of action. In preparation for Congress, dioceses across the U.S. hold a Day of Reflection. A report from the dialogue of this day is sent to the NBCC that will help guide the programming for Congress XIII. Following the report, a diocesan delegation and representatives go to Congress to engage in the dialogues that contribute in the creation of the new National Pastoral Plan for Black Ministry. The Plan is then shared nation-wide for use in the respective dioceses throughout the U.S. On Saturday, October 29, 2022, Black Catholics and people in ministry from about 11 parishes throughout the Diocese of Rochester gathered for a Diocesan Day of Reflection. In prayerful reflection and respectful open dialogue, 31 people gathered resulting in the summary report sent to the NBCC.
